"Night Passage" is a short story set in the Revelation Space universe.

Synopsis[]

A crippled ship, a Big Unidentified Thing in deep space, treachery and more. [1]

The story follows the experiences of Ultra Rauma Bernsdottir of the lighthugger Equinoctial, carrying a group of Conjoiner passengers. The ship runs into an area of space exhibiting the Shroud phenomennon - the first such mysterious area of space encountered by humanity.

Publication history[]

It was first published by Titan Books in 2017, as part of an anthology of space opera themed short stories by various anglophone authors, titled Infinite Stars (ed Bryan Thomas Schmidt). In 2018, it was also published in that year's anthology annual The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Thirty-Fifth Annual Collection, by St Martins/Griffin (ed Gardner Dozois). [2] [3] [4]
