Lago was a member of the Brazilia crew, and one of a pair that detected the presence of the Caleuche. Thinking that he would acquire vast amounts of resources and supplies for his ship, he and his partner, Oliveira, stole a shuttle and traveled to the "ghost ship".
After docking he traveled into its interior to find fuel for their return trip. Not long after entering he discovered the truth about the ship's alien origin, and was eventually killed by Traveling Fearlessly after panicking and attacking several helper grubs.
His memories and biological components lived on in the grub until its death, and were instrumental in establishing communication with Sky Haussmann's later expedition.
