The Milky Way galaxy is a barred spiral-arm galaxy in the Local Group. It formed ??? billion years after the Big Bang, hosted life forms within it once enough successive populations of stars were born and died to raise the metallicity of the interstellar medium to the point where rocky planets could coalesce, and rotated several dozen times thereafter until all systems within it were consumed by the Green Wave.
